Message from the general co-chairs

On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the third ICST conference on security and privacy for mobile information and communication systems (MobiSec 2011). MobiSec 2011 covers some of the most active areas of research in mobile security with its three focus areas Machine-to-Machine Communication Security, Policies for Mobile Environments, and Mobile User Authentication and Authorization. With the orientation toward applications, MobiSec is a perfect interface between academia and industry in the field of mobile communications. This is corroborated by our many prominent guests from all over the world, including India and China, that are featured in the keynote speeches.

This year, MobiSec is co-organized together with the Annual Workshop of Center for TeleInFrastruktur (CTIF) of Aalborg University. The beautiful city of Aalborg, in North Jutland, Denmark is a perfect setting for carrying out networking and discussions on the various mobile security topics brought forward by the conference speakers and participants. The technical program features more than 25 technical talks and papers.

Many people have contributed to the organization MobiSec. It was a privilege to work with these dedicated persons, and we would like to thank them all for their efforts. The organising committee as a whole created a frictionless, collaborative work atmosphere, which made our task an easy one. Special thanks must go to the local organizing committee chair Neeli Prasad and Rasmus Hjorth Nielsen from the Center for TeleInfrastruktur, at Aalborg University. A high quality conference cannot be created without the help of the distinguished members of the Programme Committee, overseen by the TPC chairs Giovanni Russello, Antonio Lioy, and Flaminia Luccio. Thanks to all other members of the organizing committee: Shiguo Lian (publications chair), Vincent Naessens (workshops chair), Dirk Kröselberg (panels & keynotes chair). The support of the conference organiser, ICST, represented by Aza Swedin and Anna Sterzi of the European Alliance for Innovation, is greatly acknowledged. Finally, we would like to thank Imrich Chlamtac and the members of the steering committee for their support and guidance during these months.

Concluding, we hope you will find MobiSec 2011 stimulating and thought-provoking and look forward to join us at in Aalborg.

Ramjee Prasad MobiSec 2011 General Chair
